The Rev. Dr. “Twinkle” Marie Manning was ordained in 2008 and received her Doctor of Divinity in 2017. She is a dynamic worship leader and liturgist. Her transformational ministry is rooted in the premise of Living Life as a Prayer. She offers a spirit of radical hospitality and extends welcome and comfort to all those peaceably seeking spiritual solace. Twinkle is a member of the North American Unitarian Association (NAUA). She has served Unitarian Universalism in many capacities over the years, including being on the Core Leadership Group for UU Women & Religion, developing the UU Talks outreach and fundraising platform, facilitating many collaborative retreats and workshops, including teaching religious and historical curriculum, serving as pulpit supply, and currently is serving as the Contract Minister for the UU Church of Waterville, Maine. Her secular experience as an award-winning television producer, luxury-lifestyle magazine editor and columnist, former Vice President of the Rotary Club, Volusia Peace Center Board Member and elected Town Councilman, position her well to be able to engage naturally with the wider community, meeting people where they are at, listen to their concerns, building bridges, creating harmonious solutions and pollinating social justice initiatives.
MINISTRY OBJECTIVES
- To love, encourage, support and nurture the congregation I serve in ways that are most meaningful to them.
- To meet congregants where they are at, as a companion on life’s journey, co-creating relationships that enable the holding of life’s challenges, life’s triumphs, and even the mundane, in sacredness.
- To curate and present compelling worship services and other programs that nourish hearts and stimulate minds.
- To share time in contemplative practices and immersed in nature.
To teach the joy, comfort and healing of music, movement and creativity. - To offer leadership in a collaborative spirit with the stewards of the congregation.
- To co-create an environment of inclusion for all ages, especially one that helps children feel a sense of belonging and elders feel their wisdom is appreciated.
- To draw from my media and outreach expertise in multi-faceted ways that enhances current programs and develops new ones.
- To foster and promote engagement that generates visitors and new members.
- To be a visible member of the wider community, representing a beacon of welcome to those peaceably seeking spiritual solace.
- To be a voice of compassion and justice.
